Stream Your Koinup Videos In Second Life!

You can now Watch Your Koinup Machinima in Second Life! This is a pearl for Machinimists! Its very easy to get the streamable file! I'll explain now!

In order to get your Videos Streamable in Second Life you have only to take two steps:

1) Import them from Youtube to Koinup
If your videos are already on Youtube, You can import them on Koinup with a single clic
and get the streamable file on Koinup
If your videos are hosted only on Koinup. You have to upload them also on Youtube and re-import them on Koinup.

This is because, our streamable service works only with Imported from YT videos

2) Get the Stream File on Koinup and Paste in your parcel media.

Some Notes about the feature
1) Import on Koinup only Videos created by yourself.
2) Don't import copyright contents on Koinup
3) Streamable Koinup Features take advantage on the Youtube high quality files technology
4) with some expedients, you can get a streamable mp4 file directly from Youtube, but the link expire after some minutes, so it isn't affordable
5) Koinup provide you with a permanent files for streaming
6) Import/upload on Koinup only videos related to your virtual life. That is machinima and Second Life Videos. We don't accept real life videos
7) In order to get the best info on the mp4 videos on Youtube, watch the Torley tutorial

Import Your Videos From Youtube, with a single click!

Hello, we are very proud to announce the launch of a new Koinup Brand Feature:
"Import Your Videos from Youtube!" Sharing your machinima is now an easy game, on Koinup!

How to Import Your YT-Videos? Its easy:
1) Go in The Upload Page
2) Select Your World
3) Select the Media-Videos
4) Type title and tag & Click on Next
5) Paste Your Youtube Video Url in the Youtube-Clipboard & Click Upload

Imported Videos have the same quality they have on Youtube and they are perfectly integrated on Koinup.

The feature has been builded by interacting the Youtube API

Windlight Contest Show and Jax Streeter!

Today, May,20th at the 11AM SLTime you are invited to the opening of the Koinup Windlight Show At the Rezzable Cannery and to attend the Live Music Show by Jax Streeter!
The Art Exhibition features the three winning photos and other 7 runner-ups from the Windlight Contest

The Music Star Jax Streeter will play live for about 1 hours and the uber-judges Torley, Pastrami Linden and Vint will do their best to take part in the event!

To Join the Show, Click Here and once you reached the Rezzable, you’ll see a big sign saying ‘Koinup & Rezzable’. Click the TP disk located under it, and we’ll get you right to where you need to be.


All Video Makers and Photographers are invited to take photos and videos of the show and post it on Koinup!

Searching on Koinup

We have improved the search tool on Koinup! The Search was a weak point on the website. So we have started to put our hands on it! Following are the main improvements:
1)In the head search box (see the image), now you can always choose to search in members & skills or in everyone's works. Use the drop-down menu and select if search in works or in members

2)In the Head Search Box, the default option is to search in everyone's works

3)In the search page you can now more easily pass from the "search in everyones" works to the "search in members"....
You can find the link to switch at the botton of the page, near the paging....

We have still to work on this, you can consider it, the first bunch of improvements...Other are upcoming in the next mounths...

A new Sponsored Contest! SL Portrait

If you are a machinima maker and took part in our previous Music Videos Contest, probably you would have heard about a polemic about the winners and some presuntive steal of ideas
So let us show you, which it the Official Koinup Position.

1)Koinup didn't pick the winners of the Music Videos Contest (nor we picked in the previous contests)

2)We willfully nominated some autorhitative judges, that with their unappealable decision choose the winners and runner ups. All our judges have great authority in machinima and Second Life Art. We totally trust them. We haven't any complain with their work. They made an amazing job. More, their decision have been taken collegially, for free and without any external influence!

3)All the Second Life Community on Koinup has been unique. We haven't see any kind of artworks steal or other kind of abuse

4)All the winners (communities winners and jury-picked-winners) deserve their win and their prizes! Winning videos are original, well done and really unique. Congrats to them!

5)The current Portrait Contest and the upcoming Sponsored Contest are brought to you by Developers. Rules and Guidelines are based on the Developers decisions. But, anyway, we host these initiative on Koinup, because we think that they are great project, not offensive and above all really appropriate for our community.

6)Beside the debate on who win and who not, we think that contests are a good boost for the users creativity and they give a lot of visibility to all the participants (also, if they won't win).

Beside this stand, we wanna thank you some members that gave us a lot of constructive feedback, suggesting us the following features:

1)Make more clear the judging criteria (subject, execution, technical skills, etc)

2)Provide different prizes for different kind of wins

We will try to improve these aspect in the next contests.

Some Koinup Features

We wanna start a series of posts dedicated to some of the most important Koinup Features. At first, we would like to introduce to you: Broadcast and Storyboard

Broadcast: Have you just post your masterpiece on Koinup. Have you some excting news that to share with your Koinup Friends? Well, thanks to broadcast you can send them a group message, with only a single click.
You find the link to send broadcast, below the message clipboard in your personal page. Here other entries on broadcast.

Storyboard: In the Upload page, beside videos and pictures, you can find an other media: storyboard. What's about it?
Storyboard is a media feature that allow you to create stories and tutorials on Koinup. It provide you with the chance to create a long sequences of images, mixing pictures and texts(up-to 30 images for each storyboard).
If thought, not still massively used by our members, storyboard has a lot of users on Koinup. Here are some members, having fun with storyboard

Some advice in order to protect your artworks

Some members have contacted us in order to get some tips to protect their Koinup works!
Well, this is an important issue..so let us tell the following:

1) If you have some artworks, machinima, photos that you don't want other share, use, post it, you have the chance to make it private or visible only to your contacts

2) If you, otherwise, encourage other to share, use, sell, etc your artworks, you can type the kind of licenses you are going to use for it
(koinup still lack of a tool to select creative commons licenses, but it is already scheduled in our road map......so have a little bit of patience, we will have it)

3) We have made visible only to the owner of a works, some of the links most used to share works, as the EMBED Link and the BBCode Link

If you browse Koinup Photos, these days, you can realize now that links as the Embed Link and BBcode are now visible only if you are the owner of the photos

Before the updates, they were visible to everyone. We made this ajustement because some members have asked to us to improve the control of their own works!

This is a first step aimed at giving members a direct and clear control on their works and how these can be used by other members.....

Other updates on this area are forthcoming! Have a bit patience, we have now a lot of updates already scheduled and we are working on them.......

Anyway, any suggestion is very welcome!
