Second Life Photograph

Sunset
If you remember some times ago, many blogger were involved in a debate about Second Life Photograph: "Are photos taken in SL only screenshots or are they something more?" This was the issue....
Now, thanks to the Photo Sessions, we had the chance to take part in many discussions about Second Life Photograph. People, Teachers, Photographers love to discuss about SL Photography. There are ton of topics they love to discuss about..as Windlight, high resolutions, lighting, renderglow and much more.

Second Life Photograph
(and also other Games photograph as the excellent scene of The Sims Photograph) is a medium. It means that SL Photography is a new form of communication, a new form of art. A tool to discuss about, a new way to interact with friends.

Now go in Koinup and join some masterpieces

Photo Sessions, third appointment!

orange photo one
I'm glad to announce the third appointment with the Photo Sessions!
Friday, 12th of september, at 12PM SLT at The Orange Island Kali Meads will show how to take amazing Black & White Second Life pictures using Photoshop
All Koinup members are invited to take part at the event. You can read the announcement also on the Orange Island blog where you can find a cool interview with Kali Meads, sharing her backgrounds and favorite real life artists....

If you read some our previous announcements about this third appointment you probably should have noted that we have changed the programme. Unofortunately Trinidad Anatine, which was hired for this lesson, can't take part because of real life issues. She is fine, don't worry and she will be glad to make her lesson later in october.

I'm waiting for all of you, today, Friday, 12th of september, at 12PM SLT at The Orange Island

Photo Sessions is a project brought to you by Orange Island and Koinup. Photo Sessions goal is to provide SL photographers with a confortable place where discuss, share and have good time while sharing their art!

Are you getting excited about SL Photography? Well, have a look at this masterpieces!

Announcement : Not Possible IRL Safari

All Second Life, Metaverse and Virtual Worlds citizens are invited to take part at the Not Possible IRL Safari! The Safari will take place Saturday, 13th of September, at 6pm SLT

Our meeting point is at the Crescent Moon Museum! Here's is the Slurl

The crew will be guided in several sims, by Tayzia Abattoir the founder of the magnific Crescent Moon museum. The first visit is at the Crescent Moon museum, one of the first museum of Second Life and one of the best attraction of ever in SL; then we we will move to the Aho Gallery at the NMC, a fairly new museum with some enchanting sculptures and eventually the crew will have the chance to discover other amazing places that we can't reveal (now, you know)

Now, maybe are you wondering why we have called this: Not Possible IRL Safari
Its easy, because it is collaborative project, created thanks to the support of Bettina Tizzy, founder of Not Possible in Real Life Groups (NPIRL) and because some of the places we will visit are parts of the NPIRL Sims.....

You are invited to have a look at Bettina Tizzy blog and join as well her group in SL

Second Life Cool Destinations

Right now on Koinup, you can discover which are the hot sims of the moment and the most popular sims of Second Life! ù
The Places Directory is exactly a new way to get the eyes on the most trendy and coolest places over there in Second Life (and soon in other virtual worlds)
But I suggest you to have a look with your eyes!

Right now, very hot for the Koinup Community is:
Welsh Cove, the amazing/country hangouts created by Am Radio

HappyMood, the cute japanese island

Orisis, the surreal and relaxing hotspot in the sky

Probably you'are wondering......who selected these sims as the most popular and coolest......You're right, it is a crucial question....

Users are the judges of the popularity of a Place
A place is ranked as popular on Koinup if there are many photos about it and if there are many people sharing it.....

the most people are interested and take photograph of that place, the most it is popular, coolest and the most probably it will be showcased in the front page of the place sections!

It is the power of user generated contents and opinions....

Place, "Discovered by" Feature

We are having a fantastic, excellent positive feedback on the new Places section! Anyway, thanks to some members we learnt about a small bug in the "discovered by" feature! The bug is about the timing of discovery.

Right now the "discovered by" feature is based on the timing of geotagging, not on the upload timing.

Update! The Bug has been Fixed

Before the update, if you have uploaded some months ago a photo of Svarga (without geotagging it and btw, at the time it was obviously impossible) and later
someone else added an other photo of Svarga and subsequently he geotag it

then this second member would be featured as Discoverer.....

After the fix, the scenery is totally different.

If some month ago you have have uploaded a photo of Svarga and only these you have added the slurl, you are still considered the Discoverer

This fix is going to contribute to put some order in the concept of Discoverer.
Right now what does matter is not only the action of geotagging but also the time of uploading....

Anyway guys, remember this: if you want be featured in the places section,
you have to geotag your koinup items!
There are two ways of geotagging:
1) Send Postcards from SL to Koinup, without saving on hard drive
2) Add the slurl to your uploads, more info here!

The Following explain how was the situation before the fix:

If you were the first to post a picture of a place (put as an example Tempura) , but didn't add immediately the slurl to it, it could happen that someone else later could post a pic (and geotag it) of the same place.....and he will be featured as discoverer....

Now the problem is no more (Remember, the issue has been fixed)
