Cross Worlds Support

Virtual World Interoperability is still a mirage, but we here at Koinup have a large part of that members that join the website because they are use with some virtual worlds and then, it happens that they start to use other virtual worlds.

For example, the Avatar Pics Competition brought many IMVU, Frenzoo, The Sims members in Second Life. On the contrary, The Rocking the Metaverse initiative drove many people from Second Life to OpenSim, Metaplace, Twinity.

Because of these reasons, we created the CrossWorld Support group.

Basically the idea is giving a space for newbies (beginners with a new world) to meet with long time members of such a world (mentors and skilled members) and ask for or give help to others. Join now the group and help Koinup members to explore new worlds.

Photo Session : all about colors, part 3, by Zephyru Zapedzki

Join us this coming Tuesday 23rd of June at 11.00am SLT in the Orange Island Photo Gallery for the third part of the class based on RL Photography Theory ‘Colors in Second Life’ by Zephyru Zapedzki.

Last session was focused on colors in art, photography and SL. We travelled through art history and rediscovered some masterpieces. For those of you who missed the last class, you can have a look at the transcript.

This week, Zeph will digg deeper by showing us how to use colors in the environment editor and post-processing tools. You can read more about our color teacher on the first blogpost.

Photo Sessions are events dedicated to help photographers share and collaborate. Orange Island and Koinup partner to make instructive classes for SL Photographers and especially the Second Life Comunity on Koinup.

The winners of the Avatar Pics Competition.

Gladly, its the time to announce the winners of the Avatar Pics Competition. As you probably know, the Avatar Pics Competition is the 1st crossworld avatar art contest, open to all virtual worlds and avatars. It has been a fantastic contest for Koinup, because we had the chance to collect in a single room art pieces from all the virtual worlds. In the pool you can find, artworks created in Second Life, IMVU, World of Warcraft, Frenzoo and many other worlds.

Winning works gains the chance to be displayed at the Koinup Art Gallery built for the Second Life 6th Birthday.

If you browse the Koinup groups these weeks, it is possible that you stumble on the SL6B group. Created by Poid Mahovlich and Talia Tokugawa , the group mission is to collect images and slurls of the Second Life 6th Birthday Show. Join the group, now!

Second Life Birthday theme this year is "the future of virtual worlds". I found very interesting (and positive) that one of most important virtual worlds (Second Life) devote its birthday fair, not only to itself but also to the whole industry of the virtual worlds. It came the time to start to talk about interoperability among various virtual worlds. Isn't it? Express your opinion in the group forums

I also take the advantage to announce that the Koinup SL6B build is almost ready. As you probably know, Koinup has been invited as exhibitor at the SL6B. In order to involve our amazing community for this project, we launched "The Avatar Pics Competition" with the aim of displaying the winning works at the SL6B in the Koinup Plot. Now, the submission time is closed and the judges are reviewing the entries. The announcement is scheduled for tomorrow, on 22th of june! Stay tuned, here

Rocking the Metaverse fans take the stage in Twinity.

Yesterday was a fantastic day for the Metaverse at Twinity. The Rocking the Metaverse performers played for some hours with the Brandenbourg gate as backdrop, in front of dozens of people, fans, Twinity members. Twinity staff did an excellent work, by creating a stage, setup the streams and funnel all the people at the show. DD Tandino, Dizzy Banjo, Grace Mcdunnough, Slim Warrior played great music and the fans excited......take the stage at some point.




Rocking the Metaverse is the bed test for the interoperability among virtual worlds. It is so great to cross virtual worlds, meeting people and spreading creativity. Each venue has its own style and advantage. Metaplace was easy and funny, Second Life was immersive, Opensim was pioneristic and Twinity was incredible realistic (if you don't have a Twinity account, create one, now)

Avatar Pics Contest: the jury

We're glad to announce that the panel of judges of the 1st Crossworld Avatar Pics Competition is made up by some of the most authoritative experts in virtual worlds and avatar culture.

The judges are:

Mario Gerosa, curator of the Rinascimento Virtuale Exhibition in Florence, Journalist, chief editor for the AD Architectural Digest Magazine, blogger and authors of many books on Second Life, Virtual Art and Virtual Worlds

Paolo Valente aka Arco Rosca and Rosanna Galvani aka Roxelo Babenco, owners and curators of the Museo del Metaverso. Museo del Metaverso is one of the most popular and authoritative galleries devoted to Second Life (and avatar) art.

On the occasion of the SL6B, Koinup is delighted to announce the 1st CrossWorld Avatar Pics Contest!

Theme of this year Second Life Birthday Fair is the "future of virtual worlds", so we though to hommage all the creativity of virtual worlds members, by inviting the Koinup community to take part in the Avatar Pics Competition!

The contest is open to all the virtual worlds people. So you can join the group and enter submissions created in SL, OpenSim, Vivaty, Twinity, Warcraft, The Sims, Metaplace and so on. The theme of the contest is the Avatar! So, we invite you to create some awesome avatar pics!

The submissions will be judged by a panel of authoritative judges and the winning entries will be displayed in the Koinup Areas at the SL6B Fair

The SL Shakespeare Company's Koinup Photography Contest ends on June 15! If you missed our show, you still have a chance to win over L$100,000 in cash and prizes -- by modding an existing photo!

Photo Session: Colors Theory and Second Life Photography. Part 2. On Monday at the Orange Island

Join us this coming Thursday 11th of June at 11.00 am SLT in the Orange Island Photo Gallery for the second part of the class based on RL Photography Theory « Colors in Second Life» by Zephyru Zapedzki.

Last session was actually focused on an introduction to colors (color theory, pigment and electric colors, the chromatic wheels and color profiles) as seen in the transcript we recently posted. This session will consist in an introduction to color in art, photography and SL. We will then observe the effects of this on the SL World Environment Editor.

Zephyru is a self-taught oil on canvas painter. He is also a musician and sometimes a photographer. Colors are an important aspect of his artistic journey.

Rocking the Metaverse - Reportage from Metaplace

Dear guys, yesterday was a fantastic hit at Metaplace. DD Tandino, Dizzy Banjo, Slim Warrior, Grace Mcdunnough make a great show and there were literally hundreds of people dancing in the Rocking the Metaverse world created by the Metaplace staff.

Let me personally say thank you to Cuppycake, community manager at Metaplace (Cuppy is also a multiworld user and koinup member since some weeks).

The Koinup “Rocking the Metaverse” live music tour is hitting Metaplace on Tuesday June 2nd, at 1pm Pacific time (SLT), after having been to Orange Island in Second Life, and ReactionGrid (an OpenSim world). After Metaplace comes Twinity.
