Best Foot Forward

For fashionistas across the worlds, seemingly trivial things become incredibly important. Like where to get the very best shoes.

 

Why shoes? They are the punctuation on an ensemble. They set the tone for the entire outfit and show the wearer’s expertise with the finer details of accoutrement. The shoes alone can tell a whole story—are they scuffed boots, fresh from role playing in a gritty urban scene, or pristine stilettos on long legs, full of sex appeal and class or sweet flats, perfect for a “day off”?

 

Both Second Life and IMVU offer users the ability to enjoy their shoe fetish and secretly indulge in Imelda Marcos’ extravagances without breaking the bank or building a new closet on to the house.

 

Shoes are also incredibly important in both words because the feet in both are dreadfully unattractive.

One option I really like in SL are prim toes. Of course, as in real life, you have ugly toes and pretty toes. The two above have pretty toes and several features including changeable nail polish.

Then we have what I would call the couture fantasy shoes and boots. I am not sure you would find them anywhere in real life, but they certainly pique one’s interest.

Then we have boots. In this case, I am showing standard but sexy black buckled boots (there are a lot of these in SL but these are probably some of the best) and then some really original couture-like boots. Below are the infamous Bax Prestige boots, beloved by almost all fashionistas for their versatility in look and function and some funky rain boots.

Some folks want to spend their SL casually. Cowboy boots or sneakers, both readily available.

For dress up, there are a slew of shoes available, such as the lace up heels or mary jane heel shown.

As the Labs are trying to encourage more people to use SL for work, the demand for work shoes is up as well. Neither of the above would fly in the real world (6 inch heels?), however, they dress up a business outfit ably in the virtual world.

These are some of my favorite shoes in SL. With their luscious toes, imaginatively considered shapes and textures and true couture look, these truly are MY fantasy shoes.

Blessedly the shoe makers in IMVU realize the foot there is all wrong, so they have proportioned the shoes more attractively. The above two I can see as club shoes, very appropriate for the vibe that IMVU gives off.

There are still boot girls in IMVU, either ones who want to look funky or dressed up, and the above suit that need ably.

And then there are the ladies who want to be casual or athletic. Consider a big furry suede boot or sneakers for that.

Then you may just want some dress up shoes. The ones on the left can really go with any outfit (though they include the white stockings). The ones on the right are a favorite pair for me as black matches just about everything.

IMVU also has toe shoes and sandals for matching to specific outfits. I really liked the bow shoes because of the imaginative heel and the great bow. The colors on the other shoe are almost opalescent and would suit a very dressy outfit.
