Are you a newb, or are you a noob? Newcomers to virtual worlds, social networking sites, or gaming platforms like World of Warcraft may not see the difference between the two terms. Besides, they are phonetically the same. What's the big fuss over a little "ew" or "oo"?
If you want to have a smooth start in a virtual world, educate yourself on the the difference between the two:
Newb is a newcomer who is lost, aimless, but polite, friendly, and willing to learn. Noob (or even worse, nOOb), is a newcomer who throws obnoxious, arrogant snarls at long time members or poor, unsuspecting newbs. They make mistakes without concern, and continue to do so despite the advice given to them by other members. Basically, noobs think they know what they are doing, but are usually just annoying other members.

Extraterrestrial life forms invaded virtual space when Frenzoo.com launched the Create an Alien contest in collaboration with Weta.
Yes Weta, the very same special effects group that worked on blockbuster hits like Lord of the Rings, The Lovely Bones, and Avatar.
The object of the contest is to create an alien out of your Frenzoo 3D avatar and take a snapshot in an atmosphere that is out of this world. The first place winner receives 5 prizes, including two real life gifts--an impressive loot for a virtual contest.
The Create an Alien contest is unique compared to other Frenzoo contests, tangible prizes aside.

After the launch of the partnership between Frenzoo and Koinup, aimed at bringing a new easy way to share snapshots and send postcards from Frenzoo to Koinup, we saw a vibrant positive response from the media and blogs. The reason is that the metaverse and the web must be closer and integrated onto each others.
Thanks to this partnership, both Frenzoo and Koinup members will be easily able to autoshare images from Frenzoo to Koinup and via Koinup, these images could be also crossposted and forwarded everywhere on the web. (here details of the launch)

Newb. It’s more than a word. It’s a title that lingers over your head while you aimlessly venture throughout the worlds of your virtual life. People may ignore you, others will make your virtual life a living hell. The power is up to you to ward off the menacing “newbness”.
I am new to virtual worlds. I joined Second Life two months ago, and just rediscovered my long lost, neglected IMVU account. The gateway drug for pixilated delight was Frenzoo, a site I’ve been a member of for about a year. I have grown a lot in Frenzoo, becoming spoiled with my acquired non-new status. I can no longer accept the title of “newb”, and will do anything possible to fight it off in the new virtual worlds I join.

at 5:59 PMA new Frenzoo mini-machinima feature.
These days, Frenzoo released a new feature that further empowers its already vibrant and active community of users. I'm talking about the new Frenzoo mini-machinima utility that allows users to record a few seconds of action in the client and save it automatically as a gif animated. The micro-machinima feature, that it is something as "an animation tool meets a video capturing software", provide Frenzoo members with a new way to share their experience from the client to the web, in a easy and quick way. With this mini-machinima feature, Frenzoo is going to hugely appeal to the large community of virtual worlds users that are more interested in creating contents for the web (pics, machinima, artworks) than inworld stuff. Some of these users are also huge fans of Koinup, too.

Hiya. I’m Harper Beresford. Welcome to my world—the world of avatars and avatar apparel and enhancement. It’s called “fashion” in common parlance, but it’s more than what an avatar wears. It’s about how a person represents herself in these worlds and the artists who make those enhancements.
In this case, the person is me, so you are subject to my whims and tastes. However, my choices range across a broad swath. I like anything imaginative, artistic, elegant, fun, well-crafted, and/or evocative.
I will be exploring the worlds of Second Life, Frenzoo and IMVU. You will probably see more of Second Life here as I am an established resident there, and frankly, the tools for wearing, exploring, capturing images of, and making fashion seem a lot easier. That doesn’t mean IMVU and Frenzoo don’t have a lot going on and coming up. IMVU has a very lively avatar enhancement scene. Frenzoo puts a big focus on fashion. Let’s see what they have!

at 9:28 AMInterview with Simon Newstead, founder of Frenzoo

We had already the opportunity to give our members some hints of Frenzoo, the 3D world of avatars and style. Today, we're going to do something more, by introducing YOU Simon Newstead, founder and ceo of Frenzoo.com
Here's the Interview
Frenzoo is a world of 3d avatars and style. How did you get with the idea of linking together style/fashion and avatar?
We looked out and saw the emergence of fashion and lifestyle websites online, and also the rise of the avatars and advances in 3D technology. These were close to our hearts as many in the team are really into gaming, social networking and Japanese street fashions. These parts all came together when we developed the concept for Frenzoo - a social community where the emphasis is on avatar style & creativity.
2. It seems that one of keys for a succesfull 3d virtual worlds is opening the doors to user generated contents. What are you doing in such area?
In summary - a lot!
We don't do content development in house, it all comes from third party creators - users of the website who create for fun or profit or both. We support direct 3D importing from programs like 3D Studio Max, Blender, Maya.
But apart from that we have our own unique web based tool to create designs for items directly from our website, for personal use by members or sale in the Frenzoo virtual shop. It's easy to use and make great things. We have a great and growing catalog for members to buy from!
3. You have recently gave support to 3d modelers to import their creations in Frenzoo. Can you explain a bit more these new features?
Sure. Now any Pro can get a lifetime pass for $US 3.95 and upload an unlimited amount of creations to the shop, be it clothing, furniture, animations etc
In selling to other members they can earn Gold coins which can be sold on reseller sites which have just gone live. We support 3D Max as well as Collada import for other software packages. For those who create in other virtual worlds like IMVU or Second Life it's a really small effort to publish existing works in Frenzoo.
4. What's are you plans for the future. Can you disclose your next steps?
Good question. One of the biggest requests from our members is to be able to do more with their avatar, which they have styled and made unique. So we have just introduced our first beta for chat. Now it's quite simple - 1 on 1 with a simple background, but we plan to extend this into 3D spaces and also support more around it. Our members are pretty excited about that!
5. What's are your demographics? and how old is the average Frenzoo user?
We are a global audience, especially because we support many different languages apart from English. Our largest market is US, but Europe and Asia are not far behind. There is a really nice mix of ages, from teenager through to 20 something and up. Our average age is around 19 years old at the moment, and mostly female.
6. Can you give us , probably some Koinup readers are thinking to signup in Frenzoo, some tips to get the most out from Frenzoo and talk a bit about how Frenzoo is generally use and what people use to do while in your world?
Tips - jump in and ask questions to our volunteer angels if you are stuck - it's a really friendly community. You can hangout and chat and get to know some new people, create your own fashions or animations in the create tool (for free), join a club, check out a contest or hang out in the forums. The vibe is really friendly on Frenzoo.
